Day 14: You win some. You lose some.

Sometimes you just have to take a win wherever you can get one. And when you don't, all you can do is hope for better next time.

31. ✅ Replace the shower curtain in the 2nd bathroom.

I'm taking the win.

2. ⚠️ Remove the bathtub hard water stains.

I accomplished some of this. The hard water stains are gone. That was a pretty easy one to check off using some CLR and an old rag. However the brushed nickel drain stopper also had what I thought were chalky-looking mineral deposits that needed to also be removed. Upon closer inspection I realized that these were not mineral deposits. The "brushed nickel" hardware was actually just a ceramic piece painted (or otherwise treated) to look like brushed nickel. The chalky mineral deposits were actually spots where the nickel finish had chipped away and exposed the ceramic. There's not a whole lot I can do about that, short of either replacing or refinishing the hardware. Both of those things sound expensive, and I don't think they are worth it.

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
