Day 141: There's a lot of learning going on up in here.

What I'm doing today

Educating - I finished another Python course in route to my certification in data science. This particular course was focused on importing data, cleaning data, and managing data in Python. I had a lot of problems with the way the course was presented, and I definitely had issues with the number of irrelevant questions on the quizzes. But I passed and that's all that matters.

Coaching - The 8yo decreed today that he finally wants to learn how to ride a bike. Of course, now that he has waited 3 years, his bike no longer fits him, and the only bike that is an appropriate size is the hand-me-down girl's bike that we got from our neighbor. And of course he doesn't want to be seen riding a girl's bike. I told him about when I was a kid and we rode boy's bikes, girl's bikes, and bikes that were cobbled together from spare parts acquired at endless yard sales. We didn't care, as long as the bike could get you to where you were going, and fast. He eventually got on the bike and rode around the garage first and then the cul-de-sac. We shall see how long he sticks with it.

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds.
