What I'm listening to today
Hysteria 51 ("Satanic Panic Revisited", 2020) - Hey remember the 80s when all those idiots with afternoon talk shows had most of the country convinced that there were Satanic cults performing human sacrifices, human trafficking, and torture all over the country? I do. This episode of Hysteria 51 revisits the nonsense of the Satanic panic including the massive paranoia surrounding Dungeons & Dragons or pretty much anything having to do with the occult. Looking back it was pretty stupid, but at the time this stuff was pretty scary for kids. So good job, all you religious zealots who can't be bothered to read TWO books. You scared the crap out of kids, ruined a few innocent people's lives, and accomplished nothing.
What I'm doing today
Strolling - The baby just wasn't into taking a morning nap today. And I just wasn't into sitting around listening to a baby cry today. So I stuck her in the stroller and we went for a power walk. We ended up walking about 3 miles around the neighborhood. I had my podcasts to entertain me, and she had her ZZZZZs.
Sharpening - The lawnmower blade was getting a little dull, so I invested in one of those drill bit lawnmower blade sharpener attachment. Worst $8 I ever spent. I fired it up and it was broken within 30 seconds. So I fixed the damn sharpener and tried again. While you're using this thing, it looks like it's doing a really good job. Sparks are flying, and it makes a lot of noise. Unfortunately the grinder itself dulls faster than the grinder sharpens the actual blade. Plus the backer that holds the grinder in place is cheapo soft plastic which wore down to next to nothing in minutes. Ugh, looks like I'm going to be filing a lawnmower blade soon.
Clothes-hanging - Went to my closet today and discovered that all of my clothes were in a heap on the floor. It seems that one of the the cheap plastic brackets that holds the rod in place finally gave out. It's always something. Well, I didn't feel like taking a trip to Lowes just to buy another piece of cheap plastic, so I scrounged up a piece of molding I had lying around and I made a new bracket out of wood. Within a few minutes the rod was back up and so were my clothes. Now it looks like I'm going to need to iron about 20 shirts.
