Day 122: Glitter is an example of a sprinkle curse

What I'm watching today

Cursed (2020, Netflix streaming) - Ok there's a new show on Netflix that, weeks before it was released, was being hailed as the next Game of Thrones. Then the critics saw it and they changed their tune, now calling it the next Witcher. Then I saw it, and I'm calling it the next hard pass. This show caught my eye because it has two things I tend to like: Arthurian legend, and Frank Miller. Calling this Arthurian legend is a bit misleading, because it's more like re-imagined Arthurian legend, because it has characters with the same names as in the legend, but that's about it. There isn't much of a story, and the acting is bad, which is a shame because Merlin is played by Gustaf Skarsgard who played Floki in Vikings, and I'm a big fan of his. But not in this. The lead actress Katherine Langford is not an action star. Watching her swing a giant broadsword was rough to watch. I gave it four episodes. That's my charity for the week.

What I'm doing today

Sprinkling - My wife's friend and her family have been quarantining for almost as long as we have, and like us, they were getting a little stir-crazy hiding indoors from the heat. So they joined us in the backyard for a little unicorn sprinkler action, water table splashing, and squirt gun battles. It's been in the 90s every day for what seems like forever, so this was a nice cool escape.

Mowing - All this extra water is making my grass grow. Gotta mow it.

Day 91: Cleanliness

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
