Day 112: One lonely tomato

What I'm watching today

Double Jeopardy (1999, Netflix streaming) - Apparently this blast from the past cracked the top ten on Netflix today. When I came downstairs from putting the kids to bed, my wife was already through most of the opening credits. It's fine. I'll watch Ashley Judd in just about anything. Though, as I was watching this movie I got to thinking... Is Ashley Judd just the 90s version of Katherine Heigl? Never mind. It doesn't matter, because she's the best Judd. Man, the premise of this movie is absolutely preposterous. No wait, it's just dumb. But as far as psychological thrillers and pseudo-action movies go, it's pretty good. Tommy Lee Jones is typecast by the way.

What I'm doing today

Gardening - The 8yo and I spent a considerable amount of time weeding in and around our raised garden bed. We don't have much planted--just some spaghetti squash, grape tomatoes, and basil. The squash was starting to crowd one of the tomato plants, so I relocated the tomato plant and staked it. I need to pick up some tomato cages this week to further help protect them. We did spot one tiny green tomato on one of the plants, so we must be doing something right, right?

Hacking - Several months ago I wrote a web browser plugin script for my wife to help her with her online purse buying/reselling. Some of the websites that the script uses have since changed, so I had to modify the script to make it work once again. Hello, v0.2!

Day 91: Cleanliness

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
