Day 77: Getting it done

What I'm doing today

Weeding - Have I mentioned that gravel landscaping is the worst? I filled up a bucket with weeds from the front flower garden area. The lilies were getting overcrowded by all the junk, so I had to take action before it got completely overgrown. The main flower bed in front of the house is still a mess, but I'm going to call that xeriscaped.

Reorganizing - I have a mother in law and a baby coming in the next few days. All the baby stuff was in the spare bedroom, and a bunch of stuff that needed to be stashed was in my bedroom. I swapped the stuff, did a bunch of laundry, and gave the kids an ultimatum about keeping the house clean. Then I broke down the dining room table and chairs and brought up the baby swing and pack-n-play from the basement. Now we're 99% prepped.

Hacking - I was getting tired of doing Project Euler problems, so I asked around for other coding challenge websites. Some colleagues directed me to HackerRank, so I signed up and dove in. I solved the first dozen problems or so, which were pretty easy. I also signed up for their 30 Days of Code and 10 Days of Statistics challenges. It's pretty fun so far.

Day 91: Cleanliness

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
