Day 100: Milestones

Two big milestones were achieved today.

Today is my 100th consecutive day away from work. I have not set foot in a government building in 100 days. I have not teleworked. And other than one informational conference call and a handful of text messages from my boss, I have had no insight into the happenings at work. Next week, my office will start to resume operations with a limited staff. I will not be present. I don't know when I will be present. I don't know if I'll be able to contribute via telework. I don't know when I will set foot in the building again.

On a brighter note, today is my baby's 3-week birthday. The silver lining to this whole situation is that I get to be home 24/7 with the family, helping out instead of playing catch-up after spending the day at work. You really can't put a price tag on how special that is. And the kicker? I'm not burning any personal leave.

I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
