Day 61: What day is it again?

We got some good rain the last two days, which kept us inside for a little bit, but we managed to get outside this afternoon. I found some outdoor activities in the garage to keep the older kids occupied for a while, but eventually it got too hot to linger.

What I'm doing today

Sorting - Yes, more sorting clothes. At this point I am 98.4% certain that I have now sorted all of the boys' outgrown clothes. I also swapped out the 3yo's 3T clothes for 4T, because he just wasn't fitting in his PJs anymore. And if he's going to insist on pooping in a diaper, he needs extra space.

Repairing - As I was putting clothes away, I noticed that one of the drawers on my wife's antique dresser was broken. After pulling it out of the cabinet and emptying all the contents, I located the problem: The glue on the corner had been worn out causing the dovetail joints to separate. Lucky thing I found it when I did, because one good tug on the drawer could have caused some serious damage that I wouldn't have been able to fix. But this one was easy. Just some glue and clamps for a few hours did the trick. After putting it back in the dresser I shuffled around the contents too to prevent over filling and unnecessary stress on the old wood.

Day 91: Cleanliness

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
