We finally got some much needed rain today. In fact it stormed and then sprinkled for most of the afternoon, which should help to saturate the soil and reduce the need for the sprinklers. We hadn't had any rain in three or four weeks prior to this.
What I'm doing today
Sorting - We have a basement full of outgrown kid clothes. Some were sorted, but some were just shoveled into bins with no organization or labels. With a few little helpers we spent the afternoon pulling bags and bins out of the basement crawlspace and sorting articles of clothing into bags based on size. Altogether we filled up about 12 garbage bags with clothes. Some are bound for the donation bin, some are reserved for my friend's new baby, and the rest will belong to our new baby when she arrives.
Swatting - We are currently in the middle of the Miller Moth Migration here in Colorado. For the uninitiated, that's a massive migration of big ugly moths called Miller moths from the eastern plains to the Rockies. They have giant bodies, but are remarkably fast. So when they get in your house, it's a bit of a challenge to swat, catch, or shoo them away. The other night I spent about 20 minutes chasing one all over the house until it took a wrong turn and cornered itself in the laundry room. Good riddance. Despite their size, they seemingly appear out of nowhere and then disappear just as quickly as they arrive. And the good news is that this year's migration is going to be the biggest in years. Hooray!
Partying - A few coworkers of mine got together in an online video chat and had a virtual pizza bake-off and party. Several people experimented with different kinds of flour, yeast, techniques, and toppings in order to create 100% homemade pizzas. (We didn't. We ordered Marco's.) It was good to see folks that I haven't seen now in two months, but the audio quality was terrible so I wasn't able to hear most of what people were saying. We're going to try again in the near future and have another cook/bake off and bad movie night.
