Day 57: Hump day

What I'm watching today

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend (2020, Netflix streaming) - This is Netflix's follow-up attempt (after Bandersnatch) at an interactive choose-your-own-adventure film. I had only seen the first season of the show, so I was a little lost on the details of the movie. Like, Kimmy is marrying a prince, played by Daniel Radcliffe, and every other character seems to be famous. Whatever. One of the things that I liked about this choose-your-own-adventure movie that is different than previous ones is that if you make a poor choice, the movie self-corrects so that you don't have to restart. That said, the humor was mediocre at best, and some of the choices were pretty dumb. The path I chose short-circuited past some seemingly important plot points and I finished the movie in about 45 minutes. I didn't bother going back so see what I missed, because it really wasn't that interesting.

Gardening - We folded in our compost from last week into the soil in our raised garden bed this morning. We fiddled with the sprinklers that feed the garden and watered to get the sorry excuse for soil saturated. Once prepped we planted some spaghetti squash seeds that we saved from last fall. The 7yo had an art assignment for school where he was supposed to replicate the famous painting The Great Wave Off Kanagawa. We ended up creating three-dimensional replicas done in crayon, marker, and pencil. It was

Day 91: Cleanliness

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
