Day 53: Yesterday

I didn't post anything yesterday (Saturday), so I'm doing a make-up post today. So for today, pretend it is yesterday.

What I'm watching today

Train to Busan (2016, Netflix streaming) - South Korea is the new Hollywood. This was a top 5 zombie movie for me, possibly even top 3. This movie is not for the faint of heart, because these are fast aggro zombies that attack everything that moves. There's plenty of blood and gore, if that's what you're into, but there's also plenty of well-established sentiment to offset the violence. I do hate the trope of the rich old guy willing to do anything, including getting others killed, to survive, but in this case I'll allow it. And most importantly, the subtitles didn't get in the way of the action. I'm getting more and more interested in foreign films lately, and I think I've watched more in the last month than I have in the past decade. Train to Busan has a loose sequel coming out later this year, and that is a train I will definitely be on.

What I'm doing today

Redecorating - I guess you could also call it spring cleaning. We bought a new rug for the living
Mt. Couch
room, so I took it as an opportunity to do a deep clean. After removing the old rug and couch and assembling Mt. Couch in the dining room, I thoroughly swept, mopped, dusted, and scrubbed, including removing all the crap the kids had deposited underneath and inside the couch over the past several months. The kids were giving long looks at Mt. Couch, but they showed restraint. Surprisingly after installing the new rug, no one has spilled juice on it or tracked dog poop on it. I guess that's something to look forward to.

Day 91: Cleanliness

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
