What I'm listening to today
Blurry Photos (podcast) - There was a time when this was the best podcast out there (in my humble opinion.) The podcast takes on topics like cryptids, historical myths, the supernatural, and conspiracy theories, and provides no-nonsense summarizations of the facts. This episode, the 241st, somehow is the first to address the Bigfoot phenomenon with an interview of Bigfoot expert and author Ken Gerhard, who provided tidbits of information and evidence that I had never heard of previously. I didn't hear anything in the interview that convinced me of the legitimacy of Bigfoot, but it was fascinating nonetheless. I really love this podcast, and when I discovered it three years ago I spent the better part of a year going back through its entire back catalog. The early episodes are amazing, and I highly recommend checking them out to anyone with even a casual interest in the topics I mentioned above. What I'm doing today
Prepping - I don't know if you heard, but we have another baby on the way. We received some needed items in the mail yesterday, and today was unboxing day. First the 5yo and I opened up a new glider/recliner from Target meant for rocking the baby in the master bedroom. Getting the pieces of this 90lb chair up the stairs was a bit of a challenge, but assembly was a snap. It's a pretty comfy seat and will be handy for getting baby to sleep. Next up was a new carseat/carrier, affectionately referred to as the "baby bucket" around here. In order to install, we first had to move the 5yo's seat to the back row in the van. I've been doing this for almost eight years, and it never ceases to amaze me how much food can be stored underneath a carseat. There was enough cereal, Goldfish, and fruit snacks to restock a food pantry. Protip: If you have kids in carseats, you must own a shopvac. I enlisted the 5yo to help clean out the car, which was helpful since I can't reach some of the nooks and crannies in the back row of the van. Once her seat was relocated to the back row, she strapped herself in and was quickly joined by the 7yo for a round of Minecraft on their tablets while I installed the new seat. I'm glad I was able to get that stuff taken care of, because tomorrow will probably be the unboxing and setup for the baby monitor.
