Oh I forgot to mention yesterday that I got 20,000 steps on my fitbit.
What I'm watching today
Community (2009-2015, Netflix streaming) - Community is arguably one of the best sitcoms that nobody watched. (See also: Happy Endings) I binged this entire series last year when it was hosted on Hulu, and now it's on Netflix with NO COMMERCIALS. I'm in between shows, and this is a great way to kill 22 minutes while cooking dinner, folding laundry, or doing the dishes. When a group of strangers taking Spanish at a local community college got together and started a study group, no one (except for Dan Harman and the Russo Brothers, the brains behind the show) could have foretold the hilarity that would ensue over the next six seasons. Ultimately these seven strangers from all walks of life form a little family and engage in episodes that are downright sweet, some that are insane, but most of the time they are both. I can't speak highly enough about this show, and I have already recommended it to several people who are also stuck at home. The show lays out its goal of "six seasons and a movie" in dozens of meta-conversations held by the cast of characters through the siz seasons. That movie never came, but there are rumblings now about a desire among certain cast members to make it. Hopefully a resurgence on Netflix will help get the job done. What I'm doing today
Weeding - We were expecting thunderstorms for most of the day today, so I didn't make any big plans to be working outside. My hand is still a little sore and my knees are trash from the spill I took last night, ergo the activity that made the most sense to spend my time doing outside was weeding the yard. It was worth it though, because the corners were starting to get pretty wild, and last summer's grass seed was overtaking parts of the gravel border. It looks quite a bit nicer now. I even got out the leaf blower and moved a few boulders out of the way in order to clean up last fall's cottonwood leaves. I still need to clean up the rest of the gravel, but that's for another day.
Sudoku-ing - I should have known better than to trust a Colorado meteorologist, but I did, and here we are. We waited around inside all day for thunderstorms that never came. We watched some TV, played video games, did some puzzles, but the best part was when the 5yo approached me with a Sudoku book (actually Wordoku, using letters instead of numbers) and said, "Daddy, let's do this together." How could I refuse? And it's a perfect partnership, because he needs practice writing letters, and I like doing Sudoku.
