Day 28: Networking

After snowing for more than 24 hours straight, the morning sun melted away most of the snow this morning in a few hours just in time for more snow tomorrow. Rinse and repeat. We spent the day indoors again, doing e-learning, playing video games, and generally lounging.

What I'm watching today

DC Super Hero Girls (2019, Netflix streaming) - Let's be honest. The majority of DC Comics movies and TV shows are garbage. This animated show, however, is not. Created by Lauren Faust, the comic genius behind The Powerpuff Girls and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, it imagines what life would be like if several of DC's greatest female superheroes all went to high school together. The show brilliantly combines humor, awkward teenage situations, and emotional story lines as the young women battle notorious villains and try to navigate adolescence as best they can. The result is both hilarious and touching.

What I'm doing today

I moved the wifi router the other day in order to get a better signal in a few spots in the house. That allowed me to set up a spare TV in the garage for watching DIY videos and having dance parties. Today, since I now have a better signal in the basement, I was able to finally set up my wifi-enabled sprinkler controller. Of course, I won't be able to use the sprinklers for another month or so, but at least I now have a working controller for when the snow finally disappears.

What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
