Day 22: See America!

Whelp, apparently I forgot to hit the "Publish" button yesterday. Just add that to the list of dumbassery that occurred.

What I'm listening to today

Food Court with Richard Blais (podcast) -  This was a first listen for me. The premise of this podcast is that Richard Blais is the judge and jury as he presides over a court in which arbitrary food debates are arbitrated. The opposing counsels consist of guest-starring chefs, food critics, celebrities, and writers. In this episode, two very famous food writers I've never heard of debated whether bagels should be toasted or not. To be fair to the guests, I've never heard of the host and judge, who allegedly is a very famous celebrity chef. I liked this show, and I added it to my regular podcast list

What I'm doing today

Driving all over the state of Colorado -  I ordered a grocery delivery of a few essential medical and other items yesterday to be delivered today from CVS. Around noon today I got the text message that the groceries had been left at our front door. I opened the front door and viola! Nothing. Then I noticed a text from the delivery person that the delivery was refused. And then it hit me: I accidentally sent my groceries to my friend's house in Aurora 70 miles away. Fortunately I caught my friend on the phone in time so he could grab the groceries before the delivery person left. I packed a couple of kids in the car and off we went! (I was able to clear my schedule.) Three hours later, we were home with our groceries. On the bright side I got to see my friend's new baby. From behind a mask. Thirty feet away.

Running - I went for a run this evening. I haven't seriously run since October, and it felt like it for a solid two miles.

Day 91: Cleanliness

73. ✅  Clear out the flower bed in the front yard Two words: scorched earth. Garden hoe: loosen the dirt. (Broke that hoe.) Shovel: remove the dirt. Sieve: Filter out all the crap in the dirt. What was left was a smooth patch of barren soil. I'm sure there are undesirables lurking beneath the surface, so I'll let it lie for a few days before I do anything else with it. 51.  ✅  Deal with the shred pile This took days. I've been accumulating junk mail, old bills, and literally anything with my name, a family member's name, or our address on it for several months resulting in a two-foot tall stack of papers. It couldn't be done all at once, because (A) the shredder kept overheating, and (B) I kept running out of places to store the shreds. (They take up considerably more room than the unshredded sheets of paper.) 75  ✅  Clean off the workbench Getting rid of the shred pile was the main roadblock in completing this task, but it's done. And now there's a bike up ...
